Forever has no realms anymore. You pick a ruleset, meaning a way to play, and join one big pool of players.
The rulesets
- Normal.
- PvP.
- Roleplay.
- Hardcore, coming after launch, in winter 2026.
The rules
- Groups, dungeons and raids happen between players of the same ruleset. Battlegrounds can mix rulesets, except Hardcore.
- The Horde and the Alliance still cannot group together.
- Changing ruleset means creating a new character.
- A dead Hardcore character can be moved to another ruleset, PvP included.
- Collections and Legacy points are shared between rulesets. Hardcore is separate: what you earn there counts elsewhere, not the other way around.
Two names per character
Every character has a first name and a second name, which together identify it uniquely.
