Balance Druid — guide and builds

WoW Forever Balance has no new spells but reworked talents, with Eclipse and Nature’s Splendor: a spec limited by its mana that brings Thorns and plenty of crowd control.

Class: DruidData 1.60.1.70009By ForeverGuide team · updated Sep 26, 2026

Overview

WoW Forever Balance has no new spells, but its talents are largely reworked. Eclipse rewards alternating between Wrath and Starfire. Nature's Splendor extends Moonfire by 3 s, Insect Swarm by 2 s, Regrowth by 6 s and Rejuvenation by 3 s. Insect Swarm moves to the Balance tree, Moonglow comes earlier and stronger, and Improved Wrath also lowers the cost of Wrath.

Entangling Roots works indoors and, with Overgrowth and Improved Entangling Roots, hits several targets and deals real damage. Mana, more than talents, caps your damage: many points go into mana talents.

Leveling is slower and more mana-hungry than in Classic: pull one mob at a time and drink often. The spell power on your weapon, from level 10, is your biggest upgrade. At level 20 on the beta, Balance has the lowest damage among DPS, in tier C, for lack of a wand, but its spell-power-scaling Thorns make up part of the gap.

Rotation and priorities

At level 20:

  1. Priority 1: Wrath
    From max range, to open.
  2. Priority 2: Moonfire
    Apply it next.
  3. Priority 3: Entangling Roots
To keep the target at range.
  4. Priority 4: Wrath
Until it dies; recast Entangling Roots if they break, and heal yourself as needed.
  5. Priority 5: Starfire
Your main nuke, alternating with Wrath for Eclipse, with Moonfire and Insect Swarm up.
    When: Later
  6. Priority 6: Starfire
Use it for a fast Starfire.
    When: Nature’s Grace
  7. Priority 7: Insect Swarm
    Or a down-ranked Moonfire.
    When: While moving

Later: Wrath pre-cast, Moonfire and Insect Swarm up, Starfire as your main nuke, alternating with Wrath for Eclipse. Use Nature's Grace for a fast Starfire, and a down-ranked Moonfire, or Insect Swarm, while moving.

Several targets: from 2 to 4 targets, Moonfire and Insect Swarm on two targets, then the normal rotation; Hurricane from 5 targets.

Your main stat; the spell power on your weapon matters a lot.
2 Spell hit
16% cap against a boss 3 levels above you.
3 Spell critical strike
Valuable thanks to Vengeance.
4 Haste
From set bonuses, Nature’s Grace and the Skyborne racial.
5 Intellect
Secondary.
6 Spirit
Secondary.

From most to least important.

Balance is the only spec with an established order, as follows:

  1. Spell damage: your main stat, and the spell power on your weapon matters a lot.
  2. Hit: a boss 3 levels above you resists 17% of your spells, reducible to 1%: your cap is therefore 16%.
  3. Critical strike: valuable thanks to Vengeance.
  4. Haste: from set bonuses, Nature's Grace and the Skyborne racial.
  5. Intellect then Spirit, secondary.

Leveling

Open-world build at level 20: Improved Wrath 5/5, Moonglow 3/3, Nature's Majesty 2/2 and Improved Entangling Roots 1/3. In dungeons, Nature's Reach for hit, instead of one point of Nature’s Majesty. This second build comes from an old link format: to be confirmed.

A Druid who is not Skyborne sometimes levels better by skipping Improved Wrath: fight in melee with a staff, a dagger or a mace, with a single Moonfire, Entangling Roots and Rejuvenation on yourself. Run dungeons as you level: gear changes your spec more than new ranks do. In dungeons, keep mana for Rejuvenation and Regrowth as a backup healer. The supply crates found in the world give good early pieces.
