Beast Mastery Hunter — guide and builds

WoW Forever Beast Mastery adds hawks to your pet with Summon Hawk: the simplest Hunter spec, carried by pets that follow your stats.

Class: HunterData 1.60.1.70009By ForeverGuide team · updated Sep 26, 2026

Overview

Beast Mastery changes little in WoW Forever: a few talents were merged, and one new talent gives it its style. Summon Hawk sends a hawk diving at your target, and it keeps attacking for 18 sec. Two hawks can be active at once, and the summon shares its 6 sec cooldown with Arcane Shot. Several talents strengthen your hawks like a second pet.

The pet rework benefits this spec most: pets now follow your stats, which makes more families viable. It is the simplest Hunter spec. The real skill is keeping two hawks up without recasting them too early.

At level 20 in the beta, all three Hunter specs sit in S tier, with Beast Mastery in front: it has the best single-target pressure when the group pulls few mobs at a time.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Burst
A big damage window during Bestial Wrath.
  • At range
You keep your distance very well.
  • A pet for every situation
Dust Cloud, Dismember or Mine! depending on the family.
  • In PvP
Two hawks and a pet under Bestial Wrath hit very hard.

Weaknesses

  • No group buff
You bring the group nothing but your damage.
  • Dead zone
Within 8 yards, a trap in melee range.
Read the details

Bestial Wrath gives you a big damage window, and you keep your distance very well. Your pet solves many situations: the Tallstrider’s Dust Cloud reduces armor, the Crocolisk’s Dismember reduces healing taken, and the Bird of Prey’s Mine! disarms.

On the other hand, you bring no group buff, and your 8-yard dead zone remains a trap in melee range. In PvP, two hawks plus a pet under Bestial Wrath can hit very hard.

Key spells

Key talents

  • Deadly Aspects (5 ranks)
Under Aspect of the Hawk, your Auto Shots can raise your ranged attack speed by 30% for 12 sec.
  • Focused Fire (2 ranks)
+2% damage for you and your pet while it is out.
  • +15% health and armor for your pets.
  • More damage and crit for your hawks and pets.
  • Reachable at level 25, or from level 20 with Legacy points.
  • Your pet’s next attack stuns for 3 sec, with a higher crit chance and a lot of threat.
  • +20% focus regeneration for your pet, and 50% of your mana regeneration while casting.
  • Frenzy, then Bestial Wrath at the bottom of the tree.

Rotation and priorities

Single target:

  1. Priority 1: Hunter's Mark
Mark your target before you engage.
    When: If you have time
  2. Priority 2: Serpent Sting
Keep it on the target and refresh it.
  3. Priority 3: Arcane Shot
It shares its cooldown with Summon Hawk.
    When: On cooldown
  4. Priority 4: Aimed Shot
    Multi-Shot instead on several targets.
    When: On cooldown

Multiple targets: Multi-Shot instead of Aimed Shot, since they share their cooldown.

With Summon Hawk: first hawk, Aimed Shot (or Multi-Shot on a pack), second hawk, Aimed Shot again, then Arcane Shot while both hawks are up, and repeat.

Weaving a few melee hits between your shots increases your damage.

Stats

  1. 1Agility
  2. then 2Attack power
  3. then 3Critical strike
3 Critical strike
your pet copies 100% of it

Order to be confirmed: the exact priority is not settled yet.

No order is established. Aim for Agility, attack power and crit, which your pet copies at 100%. The exact order is still to be confirmed.

Leveling

At level 20, the build is the same as Marksmanship: Deadly Aspects 5/5 and Focused Fire 2/2 in Beast Mastery, Lethal Attacks 4/5 in Marksmanship. With Legacy points, move all 16 points into Beast Mastery: Deadly Aspects 5/5, Focused Fire 2/2, Endurance Training 3/5, Unleashed Fury 5/5 and Summon Hawk.

With your pet and your crowd control, you can solo what other classes avoid. Wailing Caverns has good pieces at this level.
