Rogue — class guide

The WoW Forever Rogue has poisons tied to attack power, energy that regenerates continuously and a Sap you can finally trust in dungeons.

Class: RogueData 1.60.1.70009By ForeverGuide team · updated Sep 26, 2026

Specializations and tiers

Overview

The WoW Forever Rogue keeps its combo point gameplay, with several deep changes. Your poisons now scale with your attack power, and they stack with Windfury Totem and sharpening stones. Your energy regenerates continuously instead of coming back in 2 sec ticks. A missed ability seems to refund part of its energy, to be confirmed.

Sap can no longer break your stealth: it is reliable crowd control in dungeons, and the talent that used to improve it is gone. You can also wield axes. On the other hand, you bring no raid buff: Expose Armor is on par with the Warrior’s Sunder Armor.

At level 20, all three specs play like Combat, with combo point abilities and Slice and Dice. Mutilate, Venom, Seal Fate, Hemorrhage and Blade Flurry come later.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Stronger poisons
They scale with your attack power.
  • Reliable Sap
It can no longer break your stealth.
  • Survival tools
    Evasion, Vanish, Feint.

Weaknesses

  • No raid buff
Your spot rests on your damage and your interrupts.
  • Slightly slow energy
In every spec, to be confirmed.

Roles

The Rogue plays DPS in all three specs. At level 20 in the beta, Subtlety, Assassination and Combat all sit in A tier, alongside the other melee classes.

The three specializations

Assassination. Everything runs through poisons, with Mutilate and Venom, two new abilities. Weak at level 20, strong afterwards. Assassination guide

Combat. The most complete and simplest spec: Hack and Slash replaces the weapon specializations, and Blade Flurry brings real area damage. Combat guide

Subtlety. The most revised tree, built around bleeds and Rupture, with Thousand Cuts as its final talent. Subtlety guide

Key spells and talents

  • Alliance
Night Elf or Gnome. Elune’s Light stacks with your other burst abilities. Eureka! lowers the cost and raises the damage of your next 3 abilities, and Expansive Mind raises your maximum energy.
  • Horde
Orc or Undead. The Orc has Blood Fury and Axe Specialization; Touch of the Grave benefits Rogues who attack fast.
  • Skyborne
The Rogue’s only new race, not very convincing.

Engineering remains the reference with its gadgets. Skinning and Leatherworking offer many new recipes and pieces that are easy to craft early. First Aid now makes bandages and healing potions: less downtime and an instant heal. At camp, items from Mining, Skinning and Fishing give the best DPS bonuses.
