Survival Hunter — guide and builds

WoW Forever Survival can be played in melee, with Aspect of the Beast, Raptor Strike and a Mongoose Bite that no longer depends on a dodge: work in progress.

Class: HunterData 1.60.1.70009By ForeverGuide team · updated Sep 26, 2026

Overview

Work in progress. Survival does not have an established rotation or level 20 build for the beta yet: this page only gives what is known for certain, and it will be completed.

What is known: Survival can be played as a melee Hunter. You keep Aspect of the Beast as your main aspect, and Raptor Strike becomes your main attack. With a sword or an axe, the Human’s and the Orc’s racial weapon specializations apply. Several talents strengthen Mongoose Bite and make it usable without having dodged.

At level 20 in the beta, Survival sits in S tier among DPS, like the other two Hunter specs: at that level, the ranking is about the class more than the spec.

You pick your distance: in melee with Aspect of the Beast, or at range like the other Hunters. Beyond that, the strengths and weaknesses specific to the spec are still to be confirmed.

Rotation and priorities

Work in progress. No priority is established for Survival yet. In melee, your tools are Raptor Strike, Mongoose Bite, Wing Clip and Lacerate (from level 30), with Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap on packs.

Stats

To be confirmed. No list exists for Survival yet.

Leveling

There is no established level 20 build for Survival yet. The level 60 build on this page is one of the most popular for the class before launch: it takes Lone Wolf, so it plays without a pet, and Careful Aim, which draws your attack power from your Intellect. It is not yet testable in game.
