Overview
In WoW Forever, the Warrior is still a plate-wearing melee class that lives on rage. That resource changes: every hit grants a fixed amount of rage, a critical strike grants no more, and your gear no longer changes that total. To earn more, you have to take damage, even absorbed damage.
Victory Rush is learned at level 20: after killing an enemy that yields experience, you strike and recover 10% of your maximum health.
Tactical Mastery becomes a baseline passive: you keep up to 10 rage when you switch stances. Every race can play a Warrior, Skyborne included.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Two rolesDPS or tank, always in plate armor.
- Victory RushFrom level 20: a heal after every enemy you kill.
- Swing timerShown by the game: it helps you time Slam and Heroic Strike.
Weaknesses
- Normalized rageYour gear no longer gives you extra rage.
- Rage from hits takenOnly damage taken earns you more rage.
- Weapon-dependentYour damage closely follows the quality of your weapon.
Roles
Arms and Fury play DPS, Protection tanks. At level 20 in the beta, both DPS specs sit in A tier, and Protection in A tier among tanks.
The three specializations
Arms. A two-handed weapon,
Rend and
Overpower. Rend scales with attack power and can crit. The most consistent spec for leveling. Arms guide
Fury. Two weapons and lots of hits. The spec hit hardest by normalized rage: it shines on two or three targets and plays best in a group. Fury guide
Protection. An almost rebuilt tree: threat now comes from talents, and
Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance. Protection guide
Key spells and talents
Recommended races
The differences are small: no race stands out the way some did in Classic.
- DPSNight Elf, Gnome, Human or Dwarf; Orc, Troll, Undead or Tauren. Elune’s Light grants 10% crit for 15 sec; do not stack it with
Recklessness. - TankHuman, Dwarf, Night Elf or Gnome; Orc, Tauren, Troll or Undead. The Tauren’s Endurance grants 5% health and 1% hit.
- SkyborneThe weakest choice at max level.
Recommended professions
Level Mining and Blacksmithing while leveling to craft your own upgrades. At max level, Engineering is still the reference: swap one of the two for it. As Fury, Alchemy is a good option. The other professions grant a stat bonus; whether it is worth Engineering is still to be confirmed.
What is new compared to Classic
- New abilities
Victory Rush (level 20) and
Spearing Strike (Arms talent). - 60% less damage taken for 12 sec, 15 min cooldown.
- 20% attack speed slow, in Defensive Stance too, 6 sec cooldown.
Shield Block lasts 7 sec and blocks 2 attacks;
Slam has a 15 sec cooldown.
Demoralizing Shout no longer generates threat;
Bloodrage no longer puts you in combat.
At level 20, your class trainer starts a quest chain that leads to a breastplate.
