Horde
Orcs, Forsaken, tauren, trolls and Windshaper Skyborne: the Horde fights for its freedom, and everyone earns a place in it.
Undead
Torn from the Scourge, the Forsaken defend the Undercity and their free will.
Racial traits
Underwater Breathing (passive): Underwater breath lasts 300% longer than normal.
Will of the Forsaken: Instantly removes all Charm, Fear and Sleep effects.
Cannibalize: When activated, regenerates 7% of total Health and 7% of total Mana every 2 sec for 10 sec. Only works on Humanoid or Undead corpses within 5 yds. Any movement, action, or damage taken while Cannibalizing will cancel the effect.
Touch of the Grave (passive): Your spells and attacks have a 5% chance to drain Health from the target, up to 5% of your maximum Health. (depends on your class)
The game’s rules
- Two names per character, a main name and a secondary name: together they make your unique identity across the region.
- Letters only, accented ones included (é, è, ê, à, ç…): no apostrophe, hyphen, space, digit or other symbol.
- 2 to 12 letters per name.
- Never the same letter three times in a row.
- Early name reservation from October 27 to November 3, up to 3 characters: first come, first served.
- During the beta, Blizzard force-renamed names that broke the naming policy: pick a name everyone can read in game.

Alliance
Human
- Plain given names from the farmlands of Elwynn and Lordaeron.
- Secondary name: a place, a trade or an old house.
Dwarf
- Short, hard given names that ring like a hammer on the anvil.
- Secondary name: the stone, forge or ale of the clan.
Night Elf
- Long, flowing given names, polished by ten thousand years of history.
- Secondary name: the moon, the stars, the forest.
Gnome
- Bouncy given names, full of z, x and k.
- Secondary name: a cog, a spring, a spark.
High Order Skyborne
- Scholarly elven given names, inherited from the Highborne of Eldre’Thalas.
- Secondary name: the arcane, study, the sky.
Horde
Orc
- Short, guttural given names, hurled like a war cry.
- Secondary name: an epithet earned in battle.
Undead
- A given name from the old life in Lordaeron, sometimes darkened.
- Secondary name: the grave, mourning, the night.
Tauren
- Soft, wide given names carried by the wind of the plains.
- Secondary name: hoof, horn, the sky of Mulgore.
Troll
- Sing-song given names with rolling syllables.
- Secondary name: a totem, a weapon or a tribal name.
Windshaper Skyborne
- Airy elven given names, from Skywall.
- Secondary name: wind, feather, storm.
