Destruction Warlock — guide and builds

WoW Forever Destruction goes deep into its own tree for Fire, with Incinerate, Conflagrate and Shadowburn: burst and a simple rotation.

Class: WarlockData 1.60.1.70009By ForeverGuide team · updated Sep 26, 2026

Overview

WoW Forever Destruction goes deep into its own tree for Fire damage, instead of combining Shadow Bolt, Ruin and another tree. Incinerate, a new filler spell, deals Fire damage, 25% more if Immolate is on the target.

Bane of Havoc, a new talent, copies 15% of your damage on other targets to the cursed target, for 5 min: cleave on 2 targets. Shadow and Flame ties your two schools together: Conflagrate empowers your Shadow damage, Shadowburn your Fire damage. At 5/5, Conflagrate keeps your Immolate and Shadowburn refunds its shard.

You get strong burst with Conflagrate and Shadowburn, and good area damage, since Hellfire and Rain of Fire benefit from the tree. Your sustained damage on several targets stays weaker than Affliction’s. The rotation is simple and suits beginners. Ruin now needs 5 points, and Improved Shadow Bolt no longer has charges; whether it also benefits others is still to be confirmed. At level 20 on the beta, the spec ranks in tier B among DPS.

Leveling

The other 6 points depend on your playstyle: Improved Shadow Bolt, Destructive Reach, Aftermath, Molten Skin, Improved Corruption, Improved Life Tap, Soul Harvesting or Demonic Embrace. With Legacy points, a 12-point build: Destructive Reach 2/2, Bane 5/5, Aftermath 3/5, Ruin 1/5 and Shadowburn.

Buy your wands, keep two Soul Shards for your summons, and put a soulstone on your healer before pulls.
