Overview

The Hall of Thanes is one of the nine dungeons added by Forever, and one of the two open since the start of the beta. Dark Iron dwarves have overrun the resting place of dwarven heroes beneath Ironforge. The dungeon targets levels 13–18, in Alliance territory.

Bosses

Boss 1 · Faldrim Anvilmar
Patrols Anvilmar's Rest; Mind Blast, and Anvilmar's Curse on the tank.
Boss 2 · Magmatus
Comes with a Dark Iron summoner; fire nova, and Combust on a player.
Boss 3 · Plunder
A single ability: he knocks his target away.
Boss 4 · Durgen Dirgehammer
Final boss
Final boss: area fear and Rend, with two stone golems.

What changes in Forever

Everything here is new. The Legacy achievement Novice Spelunker accepts this dungeon or Ragefire Chasm. Two of its quests are open to both factions.

Tips

Aim for level 14: hard from 11, easy at 19.
Entrance: the open door on the left as you enter the Ironforge throne room, then down through Old Ironforge to the portal.
Horde side, no quick route: Tarren Mill, Arathi Highlands, the Wetlands, then Loch Modan.
Pick up the dungeon quests before your first run: they give most of the experience.

Monsters give less experience and dungeon quests much more: your first run pays the most
An item nobody looted in the instance is mailed to you afterwards
When a rare item drops, the whole group unlocks its appearance for transmog (not in raids, not for epic items)
Meeting stones no longer summon: a list-based group finder replaces them
