Overview
Subtlety is the Rogue tree that changes the most in WoW Forever. The goal: break away from an identity reserved for PvP.
Thousand Cuts, the new final talent, is tied to
Rupture: every periodic tick of Rupture lowers the cost of your next
Hemorrhage or
Backstab, up to 5 times. With Rupture always up, that is about 1.5 energy per second.
Quietus, a new talent, adds 10% damage to Sinister Strike, Hemorrhage and
Ghostly Strike against a target below 35% health. Hemorrhage and Ghostly Strike hit harder with a dagger. Hemorrhage lost its physical damage bonus for the group and instead raises the damage of your Rupture by 15%.
The spec relies on bleeds: it suffers little from downtime, but a boss immune to bleeds gets in its way. It has the highest skill ceiling: keeping Hemorrhage, Rupture and
Slice and Dice up, and landing
Garrote after
Vanish. Its real PvE value is still to be confirmed at higher levels. At level 20 in the beta, it leads the Rogues in A tier among DPS.

Your bleeds keep working when you have to step away, and
Evasion, Vanish and
Feint keep you alive.
Setup always gives you a combo point when you dodge or resist a spell: Evasion becomes partly offensive.
On the other hand, you bring no raid buff, enemies immune to bleeds get in your way, and your energy feels a little slow.

Rotation and priorities
At level 20, like the other specs:
Later on, keep
Hemorrhage,
Rupture and Slice and Dice up, and open with
Garrote after
Vanish.
Stats
- 1Agility
- then 2Attack power
- then 3Hit
Order to be confirmed: the exact priority is not settled yet.
No list is established. Aim for Agility, attack power and hit. The order is still to be confirmed.
Leveling
Two level 20 builds. The dagger build, shared by all three specs, with
Puncturing Wounds for Backstab. The Ambush build:
Master of Deception 3/3,
Opportunity 2/2 and
Improved Ambush 3/3 in Subtlety,
Improved Sinister Strike 2/2 and one point in
Malice. It gives you a strong opener every time you go back into stealth.
Keep your main-hand weapon up to date, and switch to daggers for Backstab and
Ambush. In dungeons,
Sap is risk-free. Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep have pieces for you.
