Blizzard has started acting on beta character names that break the rules.
- The characters involved get a forced name change.
- Some accounts lost their beta access over names judged to be seriously against the code of conduct. Customer support does not handle appeals.
- An automatic name check is coming soon.
On 25 September, a senior producer gave the numbers: 0.18% of names led to a removal. Names that were merely vulgar got a forced change, not a removal. Removals targeted names that were never allowed in WoW, and every case was reviewed by hand. The automatic filter was not ready when the beta opened.
