Discipline Priest — guide and builds

WoW Forever Discipline is rebuilt around absorbs: Power Word: Shield, Divine Aegis and Penance make it a solid healer and a Priest that is almost impossible to kill solo.

Class: PriestData 1.60.1.70009By ForeverGuide team · updated Sep 26, 2026

Overview

The Discipline tree is fully rebuilt in WoW Forever. It revolves around absorbs: Power Word: Shield, then Divine Aegis, which places a shield on the target of your critical heals. Its values still seem low for now.

Penance, a new talent, is a 2 sec channel that heals an ally or damages an enemy. It also shortens Weakened Soul on its target: you can chain Penance and Power Word: Shield for a very big heal on a single target. A Holy Priest who takes the Shield talents benefits almost as much.

You feel like a Discipline Priest very early, with Power Word: Shield from level 6. Thanks to Penance, the spec levels well, and you are hard to kill solo. At level 20 in the beta, it tops A tier among healers. Wand Specialization counts for a lot there: real damage with no mana and without breaking the five-second rule. It could become a must-have in raids depending on tuning, to be confirmed.

Rotation and priorities

Solo:

  1. Power Word: Fortitude and Inner Fire always up.
  2. Power Word: Shield before you engage.
  3. Holy Fire to open at level 20, Smite before that.
  4. Mind Blast, then Shadow Word: Pain.
  5. Your wand to finish the target; recast Mind Blast on a tougher mob, and Renew on yourself if needed.

Healing in dungeons:

  1. Priority 1: Power Word: Shield
On the tank; maybe not on a rage tank, to be confirmed.
    When: Before the pull
  2. Priority 2: Renew
    On the tank.
  3. Priority 3: Heal
    Your most efficient heal.
  4. Priority 4: Flash Heal
    Your fast heal.
    When: In an emergency
  5. Priority 5: Shoot
Wand the mobs to regenerate your mana.
    When: Stable group

Your heals generate a lot of threat: keep Fade at hand. Dispel Magic arrives at level 18.

Order to be confirmed: the exact priority is not settled yet.

Look for spell power and bonus healing, Intellect and Spirit. No order is established. Pick up cloth for Tailoring.

Leveling

At level 20: Wand Specialization 2/2 in Discipline, then Twilight Focus 3/3, Improved Renew 2/3 and Divine Fury 4/5 in Holy, for overall power. With Legacy points, finish Divine Fury, then take Spirit Tap in Shadow.

Take the best wand at every step: Enchanting makes them at levels 1, 5 and 13. It saves you from drinking after every fight. When your mana runs low, respect the five-second rule: shoot your wand and stop casting.
